Emergency Regulations extended until July 22

An Extraordinary Gazette notification has been issued extending the State of Emergency in Sri Lanka by another month with effect from today (June 22).

The gazette has been issued by President’s Secretary Udaya R. Seneviratne upon the instructions of President Maithripala Sirisena.

The State of Emergency was initially imposed on April 22 in the aftermath of the Easter Sunday attacks which shook the country on April 21.

The emergency was extended by a month on May 22. It has been extended by another month with effect from today.
