‘Parliament Select Committee threatens national security’ – SLPP

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna says the actions of the Parliament Select Committee appointed to look into the Easter Sunday attacks poses a threat to national security.

Speaking at a media breifing today UPFA Parliamentarian Rohitha Abeygunawardena accused the Select Committee on maintaining a party bias.

The UPFA MP mentioned that even though a Parliament Select Committee is currently in session, the main reason the government realised they needed a Select Committee was because of the No-Confidence Motion against Minister Rishad Bathiudeen.

MP Rohitha Abeygunawardena pointed out that the direction the Select Committee is taking, seems to pose a threat to national security, adding that this government will be known for completely destroying national security.

The MP threatened to surround Parliament together with the people if the government undermines efforts of the Police, the Tri-Forces and the intelligence unit to ensure security.

He requested the government to commence Parliament sessions on the 3rd, and discard the Select Committee.
